Because the Hebrew Bible's version of Esther's story contains neither prayers nor even a single reference to God, Greek redactors apparently felt compelled to give the tale a more explicit religious orientation, alluding to "God" or the "Lord" fifty times. The story of Esther is also referenced in chapter 28 of 1 Meqabyana book considered canonical in the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church.
