Dion dimucci autobiography the wanderer
Displaying 1 - 4 of 4 reviews. I love Dion, and it was interesting to read about his journey from poor Bronx kid to star to junkie to drunk to born again man content with his life. I think the main message I got from this book is that life is long and don't give up. This book convinced me once and for all that I need to quit reading the autobiographies of rock stars of the '50s and 60s as most of them are more about the authors struggle with drugs and their eventual sobriety and how it affected their careers.
As a person in recovery, I understand the need to tell the stories for the people still struggling and Dion tells it better than a lot of the others because he also talks about how the drugs affected how he felt about the music. Still, it gets to be very repetitive reading after awhile. I vowed to find out more about this musical pioneer.
Reading this bio tells the story of his life and the influences the people around him and the music he heard all had on him. He tells the story of the Belmonts, his courtship, his faith, and his music. A great read for anyone who loves music and history and biography.

Dion was IT back in and into He was quite a package with his slick-backed hair a pompador and slim custom suit, snapping his fingers and singing in the most efforless way while his voice soared, He was the coolest, sexiest, Italian, NY guy we'd ever seen.
We could only hope love would be like that! I bought this book because I was curious about what happened to Dion in the years after all of his hits, as there was a gap of 4 years in his recording dates until the song, 'Abraham, Martin and John' D. Holler charted 4 in Oct Addiction was prevalent in the music industry but it was pretty much kept from the public back in the day, until the hippies came along and the GOV came in to clue them in.
Dion's book is about all that led into his addiction and how he overcame it and saw his life in a new light. He is one of the lucky ones and he eventually put his faith in God and it pulled him through. Dion's personality and quest for what he wanted in life reminded me of Janis Joplin's book, 'Love Janis'. Both looking for answers and took the music route, succeeded and then didn't find the satisfaction they thought it would bring them.
Dion dimucci autobiography the wanderer: Dion's book is about all that
I read Dion's second book and though a lot was missing. I thought his first book would fill in the gaps. He takes the reader through his journey from starting out, the success, the drug problems right up to where he turned his life around. The main problem with this book is there are facts missing facts- Dion's book is all about his feelings and how he felt.
So if you want to know how Dion felt, its there.

I have the first book, is this entirely new or just a re-hashing of the old one? VeeFan64Feb 14, The new book is subtitled "Stories, Humor and Music" so it sounds like it might be a collection of anecdotes, of which he has many.
